Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop, Hillarys Boat Harbour

This is a sponsored post in collaboration with Ben & Jerry’s.

Perth is stepping up. Voted into the top 10 most liveable cities last week, my pretty city is pretty groovy.

And finally getting with the times retail wise! Topshop is on the way, Zara opened last week and now we have our very own Ben and Jerry’s scoop shop settling in perfectly at Hillarys Boat Harbour. I love fashion, but I think I was more excited to hear about Ben & Jerry’s new home, so much so it warranted a mini road trip up the coast to visit the new ice cream palace.

Like any new store in its first month, Ben and Jerry’s was crazy busy and I’m not exaggerating here when I say I joined a cue of over thirty patrons all waiting to purchase the ice cream classic. And the line kept growing. Thankfully the staff were absolutely brilliant and were working at maximum speed, scooping faster than a digger on rocket fuel. Waiting in line also gave me a chance to examine the menu, a very large selection compared to the pop up caravan in the city. E’s only request was banana, so the Chunky Monkey it was. Banana ice cream featuring large chunks of smooth milk chocolate in a simple waffle cone. I went with the Strawberry Cheesecake in a rainbow sprinkled waffle cone. I’ve had this particular flavour in the past and it is definitely a favourite. The not too sweet treat reminds me of frozen yoghurt, and even though I’m clearly eating an ice cream I don’t feel guilty with this one! The mix of fresh strawberries through the cheesecake flavoured ice cream is a wonderful, delicate combination and this flavour always leaves me wanting more. The chocolate dipped, hundreds and thousands covered waffle cone was a treat all on its own. So fresh too! I almost always order my ice cream in a cup but I can tell you I’ve been converted.

Ice cream in hand, E and I took a lazy stroll around the boat harbour. You can see why Hillarys is a much loved tourist attraction. You can spend a day there and not get bored! Shop, eat, drink, chill on the “beach”, play a game of mini golf or even visit the marine life at the aquarium. All the ingredients for a great day out. I think Ben and Jerry’s will be very at home harbour side, and I know we will be back in the near future to sample a few more flavours.

Don’t have time to get up to Hillarys? The Ben and Jerry’s pop-up caravan is still slinging cones at the Perth Cultural Centre in the city. Or the tasty treat can be purchased by the pint in various stores around Perth.
