14 DAYS : The Summer Edition

I’ve been very MIA from my blog for the past few weeks because it really is that time of the year to get out and celebrate. It’s family time, it’s party time, it’s dancing in the sunshine time. And I’ve done all of those things and more as of late.

This year Christmas celebrations were a little different for our family. The normal routine is a few days off work, a slow drive down south to my home town of Manjimup and a huge celebration with every man and his dog popping by for wine and cherries. But this year we had to make do after I was rostered on to work Christmas morning (the emergency department never sleeps) and Little Sister L had a flight to catch to New York the morning after (I know right!). So Christmas this year became a chilled affair with a BBQ and pool fun at L’s house. There was still a lot of wine and cherries and even though we weren’t down south in the bush it was so nice just to get together.

New Year’s Eve saw E & I hanging out by the pool drinking cocktails with our gorgeous friends C & S. The lucky ladies happened to be house sitting the most beautiful home over the silly season and it felt like we’d checked into a rustic hotel for the weekend. Too many Pimms, a lot of laughter and a couple of cute puppies helped us bring in 2015 in comfort and style. And I even beat E in a game of water volleyball, and no, she wasn’t impressed with my beginners luck!

Last weekend saw a 4am wake up call, all in the name of Southbound. The two day music and camping festival is held in Busselton (a beach town a few hours from home) and my friends C & C were the perfect road trip buddies. Car squished full to the brim, we ventured down south for a weekend of memory making, hilarious conversation, too many sneaky drinks and amazing music. My favourite shows of the weekend had to be Vance Joy, Milky Chance, Alison Wonderland and George Ezra. I also spent time with a few of my other beautiful friends which was much needed. I’m already excited for next year.

Now it’s back to the usual work stuff. I have a few things coming up that I’m looking forward to and I’m sure my calendar will fill pretty quickly. This year is going to be a goodie, and if my Summer holidays are anything to go by I’m in for another wild ride.

What was the best thing you did over the holidays?

Best thing I did was gather with my people for Christmas. Loved it. Love your pics, you look like you had a lovely xmas, new year and weekend away.

  2. Would you believe I know a lot about Busselton because I’ve read another Perth bloggers post about it. Happy New Year and here’s to a happy and healthy 2015 ahead! The best thing I did over the holidays was eat and drink whatever I wanted, but now I’m back and paying for it, it’s back to ration. Boo ūüė¶
