You could say The Court Hotel and I have a very long, and significant history. Back in my single, and more youthful days I spent at least three nights a week at the iconic club and pub dancing the night away with friends. I’ve met some of my closest people at that place, and E and I shared our first drink together EVER in the beer garden. So many memories. So when I was invited to taste the new Summer menu there was no way I could pass up an afternoon in my old stomping ground.
The Court is a very different place during the day. You won’t find a DJ mixing it up on the main stage, but you will find a cool breeze, sunshine and a lovely relaxed vibe. Taking a seat under the shade of a gorgeous tree, the mixed group of food, fashion and lifestyle bloggers and a handful of Instagrammers took in the atmosphere and sipped on crisp champagne and sweet white. It really was the perfect venue for an end of year bloggers hurrah and it couldn’t have been a better bunch to dine with. These really are the best kind of events.
Glasses full of bubbles, we were treated to a mix of different “starters” to get the event rolling, including a super fresh Smoked Salmon Salad, flaky, rich Sausage Rolls (not like any other sausage roll I’ve ever tasted), Sliders in every flavour (the pulled pork was divine!) and the flavoursome Onion Bahji. All of the starter dishes we sampled would be perfect for a light lunch or if you love to try everything (like me), they are perfect for sharing.
We were kindly offered a choice of mains, and after the flavour explosion of the Pulled Pork Sliders, I wanted more. The Pulled Pork Fettuccine is everything you are looking for in a bowl of pasta. Rich and succulent, there was enough melt in your mouth pulled pork in my bowl to feed half the table. No ingredient stinginess in this bowl of pasta. The tomato based sauce had the right balance of sweet and savoury, and I could even see a few other bloggers eyeing off my dish! The fettuccine was cooked perfectly, and although I couldn’t finish my lunch, it was only because the portion size was insanely large. Another dish perfect for sharing.
Now I can’t promise you a topless waiter mixing your cocktails during the day (but definitely after dark), but the new Lollytini and Cookies and Cream cocktails are absolutely scrumptious, even if they’re shaken by a clothed member of staff! The pink, sweet Lollytini with a rim of sprinkles was my cocktail of choice. The girly drink was the perfect end to a gorgeous meal. I didn’t have any room for dessert after all that deliciousness, so this sweet treat was the perfect close.
The Court is the perfect spot for a chilled, easy afternoon lunch. The new Summer menu really does have something for everyone, and with evening specials as well including the $10 pizza night (I’ve tried it, it’s good), you could probably spend every night at The Court Hotel if you felt like it. And to be honest I’m still thinking about that pasta. Guess I’ll just have to head back down soon.
