Music is a huge part of my life. And I mean huge. I love a live gig, troll iTunes for the latest indie and alternative releases and you won’t find me without my earphones on my tea and lunch break at work. I just love taking a few minutes to completely escape the day and drown in whatever is tickling my ears fancy at the time. It’s usually something upbeat but meaningful, and you’re pretty lucky if I take my ear bud out for a conversation. The amount of times I’ve nearly been run over in the car park whilst daydreaming with my music playing… It’s a daily occurrence.
One of my friends regularly provides me with quality tunes. I am forever grateful, she’s like a personal DJ. Except when she’s suggesting Taylor Swift, cos that’s not funny. Sharing music is one of the best pressies, so I thought I’d share a few of my current faves with you all. Please return the favour in the comment box – as long as it’s not T. Swift.
I’m devastated I missed Little May when they visited Perth recently. I love the floaty vibes of their tunes. The perfect stroll in the sunshine song.
I don’t even know where I found this song but it is so damn upbeat and inspiring. It’s one of those tracks that consumes you. It’s a tad hippy dippy but I love it. I even got my little sister onto it – instant fan!
Cold War Kids are the bomb. I think the main reason I love this one is the lyrics. I’m a little bit partial to sad songs, they just resonate (don’t worry I’m okay), I just love the passion in the tune. Big thumbs up for this one. It’s also very catchy.
This album was probably one of my favourites last year! If you ever get a chance listen to their Live At The Wireless set for Triple J – it was magic! This song just takes me away – it’s very popular wandering at work.
My friend introduced me to Seekae and the more I hear the more I love. This song is pretty slick and cool, and although it doesn’t have the most intense lyrics there is just something about it that has given it a spot on repeat on my playlist.
Sharing is caring, what track are you loving right now?
