It’s officially my favourite time of the year! Telstra Perth Fashion Festival (TPFF) kicked off Tuesday evening and all of Perth’s fashion fans and folk are out and about this week celebrating the best of international and local fashion. The program is extensive this year, with ticketed and free runway shows, meet and greet evenings with designers, luncheons, art and fashion collaborative exhibitions and so much more. I definitely have a busy weekend ahead of me, but bring it on!
Wednesday night saw some of WA’s best and brightest fashion designers take to the catwalk at Fashion Paramount for the WA Designer Runway #1. The first of two WA driven showcases was a night of glitter and glamour with hundreds flocking to support local Perth fashion talent. I love kicking it local at The Illusive Femme, so it was a very fitting match for the blog to head along and experience the beauty and class of WA’s fashion people.
The eight amazing labels showcased on the evening were Ange Lang, Catini Designs, CDQ Designs, Intimates By Monique, JOMAY CAO, Karolina Couture Lingerie, sabfivefive and Tokay Boutique. What an eclectic mix of high fashion, every day wear, sexy undergarments, gowns fit for the queen and super cool street style all rolled into one show! There really was a designer for all of those attending the event. I gushed over the feminine dresses by JOMAY CAO, drooled over the very cool and out there looks by sabfivefive and promised myself I would one day wear a gorgeous floral garment by CDQ Designs. I discovered new labels I never knew existed and added pieces to my forever growing fashion wish list! And to know that all the garments shown on the evening were WA born makes it that little bit more special! What a way to start my favourite fashion-y week of the year!
If you want to head along to the festival, don’t worry your pretty little head, there is still time! This weekend will be the perfect chance to get involved as the city will come to life with free (yes free) shows all weekend at Forrest Chase, including Target‘s annual Spring/Summer showcase on Sunday featuring a live performance by Australia’s sweetheart Jessica Mauboy! Restyle 2015, a celebration of op shopping and supporting local charities is one show to add to your to do list. Perthonalities, designers and bloggers will share ideas on how to incorporate thifted clothing into your every day looks and a bunch of Perth fashion fans have also been chosen to model! Restyle is also on Sunday. If you’re a fan of enex100 and their gaggle of high street fashion and street style stores you can experience the new trends on the catwalk on Saturday or head down this evening for a champagne and a shopping spree at their one day TPFF party. For more details on all the weekend shows pop over to the TPFF website and get planning! And if you see me in the city over the weekend come say hi!
