I can’t believe we are half way through Frocktober already! Update time… My skin is more tan already, I’ve finally gotten over shaving my legs every day (smooth is so much better than spikes) and I’ve already raised over $320 for Ovarian Cancer research! There is still time to donate guys. Did you know that Ovarian Cancer is known as the silent killer and is usually diagnosed in the advanced stages when it is extremely hard to treat and almost impossible to cure. Scary hey? But if you guys donate today you’ll be contributing to much needed research, and hopefully one day we will be able to catch the silent killer and it’ll be silent no more. Now on to this weeks frock haul. To see last weeks looks click here.
DAY 7 – Vintage Midi
On Wednesday’s we wear floral. Not pink, you won’t see me in a lot of pink. I’m girly, but not that girly! This floral vintage dress was discovered at an op shop a few months back and I wear it all the time. Op shop tip number one – try on everything! This dress was marked at a size 18, three sizes bigger than what I normally wear, but we all know vintage sizes were so different to current sizing. I love the midi length (very on trend), the pattern is super sweet and it is perfect for both work and play. Midi dresses are ideal for work, especially if you move around a lot like I do. No butt flashing in this one! I paired the dress with nude flats and bright lipstick by Sportsgirl! I highly recommend you try their lipstick range, it’s long lasting and a very pigmented colour, plus they’re pretty cheap too!
DAY 8 – Blue Is The Warmest Colour
Yes guys, blue is my favourite colour. This Kmart dress is a few years old but it has become a go to for work. It’s professional but still me, plus it has a slip layer underneath the top layer of the dress for added comfort. Silky! I look very tired in these pictures. Shift work means a major lack of sleep, especially on Wednesday night/Thursday mornings when I’ve just come off an evening shift onto a morning shift. I swear I’m working nurses hours, ha! So please excuse my bags and pale face. It normally takes me three to four coffees to return to human form on a Thursday, and you can totally see that in this picture! I paired my dress with a polka dot belt from Forever New that I’ve also had forever. A patterned belt is a great way to break up a bold colour. Red lips completed the outfit (and made me look more alive), this time from Maybelline.
DAY 9 – Friday Flowers
We don’t do “Casual Friday” in our office, but I think I must have just decided I’d start a new Friday tradition by wearing this floral Princess Highway frock to work. I normally wear it in my own time, but sometimes I can be cheeky, plus Friday is all about fun on my end! I love the full skirt and mix of purple, pink and green. I teamed the dress with a tan coloured belt to synch in the waist and added my staple nude flats. Lime Crime bright lipstick completed my fun Friday look and I swear the day went faster in my floral dress.
DAY 10 – Recycled Goodness
I try my hardest to recycle to help the environment but my favourite kind of “cycling” is upcycling. To upcycle is to reuse discarded objects or material in such a way as to create a product of higher quality or value than the original. This dress was actually upcycled to create something even more lovely than the originals, and so not to waste the lovely fabrics. I found this dress at Perth store Oh Henry Vintage and it was one dress I forgot I had, so thanks Frocktober for helping me find my dress again! This darling frock took me out to brunch at a new Leederville cafe with my good friend L, plus a photography exhibition by fellow Perth blogger Anita from Live Your Truth. Out came my new favourite hat from Big W (again)! I swear I’d wear this boater hat every day if I could!
DAY 11 – Ethnic Inspired
I love a good print, but this Ally Fashion cheapy features a very cool ethnic inspired print that I just adore! I love the deep pink of the dress, this colour is unlike any others I own. What also drew me to this dress was the cute cut out pattern on the neck line, but don’t forget your sunscreen if you do wear a cut out dress. The tan line would be scary! This dress took me to Sunday brunch with my boo and a visit to her gorgeous nieces and sister. I paired the comfy print dress with new season Kmart sandals and fun golf cuff from Lovisa. I love Sunday, I dedicate one half to eating and adventures and the other half to blogging. Balance is everything friends!
DAY 12 – Red Goes Faster!
Getting ready for work on this Monday morning I was feeling a little off colour, but of course I thought a red dress would make it all better! This Kmart goodie is about a year old but I loved the style so much I bought a printed version too! I dolled up the plain dress with a fancy lady necklace my brother and sister gave me for my birthday and my favourite Kmart sling backs flats. Matte red lipstick from Revlon completed the look and I felt pretty snazzy. Unfortunately the sick feeling didn’t leave me that day so I had to leave work early not well at all, but the red dress was cute while it lasted. PJ’s were my second option that day and much more comfortable!
DAY 13 – Morticia Adams
The first time I wore this op shopped Target dress a colleague told me I looked like Morticia Adams from the Adam’s Family. I’ll take that as a compliment thanks, she’s a babe! I actually had another dress picked out for this Tuesday work shift (you’ll see it soon) but opted for the floaty, polka dot favourite because I wanted something more comfortable and forgiving since I still wasn’t feeling 100%. I think this dress was somewhere between $8 and $12 from Save The Children in Belmont. It’s the best op shop in the area and I always leave with a bag full of gorgeous frocks every time I visit. Lime Crime Velveteen lipstick completed the look – it’s perfect for work as it is so long lasting and survives multiple coffees and snacks.
Week two down! Can’t wait to share the next lot of frocks. Stay tuned as I’m currently on holiday at the moment so more every day casual dresses to come. The work dresses can take a break. Don’t forget to donate to Ovarian Cancer research by clicking here. I’ll love you forever if you help out!
