It’s not every day you’re invited to experience Fremantle through a photographers eyes. Jarrad Seng is a bit of a famous dude (quokka selfie anyone?), and when a shout out came about for photography fans to spend the day with him (plus other Insta Famous peeps) and take to the high seas of the Swan River I couldn’t say no. As a part of Qantas‘ 95 years in the sky celebrations we were invited to hang out at a good old “Instameet” – a gathering of Instagram nuts in a super cool location to bring the online offline. The deal with an Instameet is to encounter those people you follow religiously online and hang out in real time, another amazing thing about social media.
Fremantle was the location of choice, and although the weather was a little crazy and we couldn’t make our way to Rottnest Island as planned we spent the day on the “high seas” aka Swan River. I don’t “sail” very often and although it took me a while to find my sea legs it ended up being a beautiful day filled with stunning views, great conversation and hot tips from Jarrad himself. Jarrad started out in music photography and videography for the likes of indie artist Passanger, and since then his career has exploded! Did you know he was recently commissioned by Dubai Tourism to snap and share 12 tourist shots of the beautiful place. That is it! Swan around Dubai, do his thing and Cha-Ching! Dream job!
I’m no fancy photographer but I had to share a few snaps I took on the day. I used my Olympus OM-D E -M10 and edited the colours of the snaps with VSCO for iPhone. Embarrassingly enough I take all my pictures on automatic. I vow to learn all the functions on my camera though. It’ll be a mission but I really think it’ll benefit me in the scheme of things. Any hot tips?
If you want to check out everyone else’s pictures from the Perth leg of the Qantas Instameet search #qantasinstaPER or #feelslikehome on Instagram. I’ve found so many new feeds to follow. Inspiring!
