I can’t say I’ve been too keen on frocks since Frocktober 2015 ended. The month long fundraiser for Ovarian Cancer Research saw the dresses in my cupboard on high rotation, and I wore nothing but those for the entire month of October (and raised over $500 for the fund). I love frocking up but sometimes a girl needs her jeans. Even though it has been heating up in November I’ve been sticking to the pants, skirts and tees, but when this gorgeous frock landed on my doorstep I couldn’t wait to frock up. I got my frock mojo back! And a birthday party is the best excuse to wear a gorgeous dress.

The dress is by east coast label Firefly, a brand focused on creating ethically minded clothing with a boho flair perfect for every day wear and even that special occasion. The range includes the simplest of cuts and styles to the colour fiends dream and they really do have something for everyone! Some of my favourite Australian bloggers have worn the label (check out The Style Within, Flat Bum Mum, Styling You and Iris May Style in the label) but I never thought the team would want me to wear their clothes too so I was very excited to get involved as a brand ambassador alongside bloggers I admire. My favourite thing about the label is it isn’t just for one age group. I’m in my twenties and I still found the perfect dress for my bright and sometimes quirky sense of style.

I’ve attempted print clashing in the past but this gorgeous Freya Leaf Dress did it for me! The mix of red and blue is so Summer and would be the perfect dress for a Sunday session by the beach or a picnic with friends. And doesn’t it make a statement! As mentioned I chose to wear it over the weekend to my Nanna’s birthday lunch as the cut of the dress was perfect for eating. You heard me right. You want to look good when out and about at special events, but when I know food is involved I love a comfortable yet beautiful dress for the occasion. The waist is high cut under the bust allowing plenty of space for a few champagnes or a three course meal in my case. There is nothing worse than wearing an outfit you cannot “live” in – feeling tight and constricted post meal is never fun (or flattering). Firefly pride themselves on creating garments to suit a woman’s lifestyle, in a stylish yet comfortable way. The dress is also 100% cotton so I still felt cool even though we were outside in the sunshine! Told you it was the perfect Summer frock!

As the dress was a statement in itself I wanted to keep my accessories to a minimum and went with my favourite Target Australia tan wedges as my shoe of choice. I love wedges as I’m still able to walk, yet I am instantly taller, and that little bit fancier than if I was wearing a flat shoe. I added my newest obsession, my Big W Boater Hat which I have been living in this season to complete the look. Did you know I’m taking part in the November and December “Style It Project” with one of my favourite bloggers Kimba Likes? You can read more about it here, but one of the items chosen for the project is the good old boater. Some will say it looks like a school hat, but I was an instant convert after I tried on a friends version a couple of months back. They instantly give an outfit a lady like vibe and are very hot for this season. Plus it is always good to keep your face covered up during the sunshine months, no one likes a sunburnt nose! If you want to partake in the Style It Project get over to Kimba’s post now for all the details.

Most of my family live down south in the country so it was so great to gather over the weekend for a tasty lunch at Blackbird Restaurant in East Perth (more on that it in the coming weeks). That is one thing I love about Summer – getting out and about and spending time with your favourite people. With Christmas and New Year celebrations on the way now is the perfect time to start planning those special outfits and Firefly can certainly help you out. They also stock a stunning resort wear range by Lucciola and more boho flair by Phoebe and Rose so feel confident this season and find the best dress for you.

What do you have planned for your festive season? Have you organised your outfit already?
