Three months of #everydaystyle down! Holy moly! This year is flying by, isn’t it? To find out more about why I’m photographing my outfits daily click here. Last month I shared the best of my February work wear, and in January you saw the best of the entire month but I wanted to keep it short and sweet today and recap my daily looks from my recent overseas trip. E and I visited Singapore for a week mid month and of course I packed enough clothing for two weeks! WOOPS! But here my daily looks for wandering in saturation! Perhaps you’ll be inspired to add a little colour and print to your next holiday wardrobe.
DAY 1 | Clarke Quay & China Town
First things first – Singapore is extremely humid! Even when the sky is dark and cloudy the air is so thick and heated. So that is why I kept majority of my travel outfits short and sweet. My Kmart chambray shorts were a given for the trip. Chambray is a wonderful alternative to full blown traditional denim because it’s lighter, airier and not so thick, so it’s instantly a cooler option! I paired my shorts with a boho print Ally Fashion top (more on casual boho here) and over sized sunglasses also from Ally. Sandals and my trusty Kmart bag (big enough for cameras and passports) completed the look (which you’ll notice I wore daily), and this outfit was perfect for strolling around Clarke Quay and exploring China Town! The bright print and colour also matched my surrounds, ha!
2. Bugis +, Bugis Junction & Haji Lane
After a first day of pure melting in the sunshine we spent our second day shopping in the air conditioning of the Bugis mall strip! A visit to hipster heaven Haji Lane also happened (more about that here) and can I just say – how cool is this back drop for the picture? The entire lane was bright and full of life. Entering hipster territory I knew my favourite print clash combo of florals and stripes would fit right in so I paired a Miss Shop tee from Myer with a skirt from H&M. Vintage sunglasses were my eyewear choice of the day and I love the shape of this pair. Again the Kmart bag and sandals made an appearance – I didn’t bring a million accessories on the trip! Shoes are heavy you know, ha!
DAY 3 – Sentosa Island & Universal Studios
Knowing full well I’d be taking a cable car through the sky followed by a bunch of walking and perhaps a few theme park rides comfort was key on this day of the trip. I paired my trusty Mix Apparel denim dungerees (another way to style them here) with a sleeveless H&M tank (too hot for sleeves on this day) and market find sunglasses. My hair was a mess, I was sweating up a storm and I knew I looked a little bit like an adult baby in my overalls but I was comfortable and not too boiling so the outfit worked. Same bag, similar sandals!
DAY 4 – Orchard Road
Clean hair and air con = happy Em! If you’re a bit of a shopoholic and you’re in Singapore you have to visit Orchard Road. E and I spent hours choosing our new winter wardrobes at the likes of Dorothy Perkins, Forever21, H&M, New Look and other stores. I wore another chambray item, this time a Target dress (more on the dress here) with a new season H&M hair bow and Quay Australia sunnies (more on those here). This dress was perfect for slipping on and off in the change rooms trying on new things!
DAY 5 – Botanic Gardens & Little India
When it’s too hot for pants wear a tee shirt dress! I’ve lived in this striped Kmart dress for nearly three seasons now and it’s just the perfect travel dress as you can just throw it on and go on your way! On this particular morning we were visiting the Singapore Botanic Gardens which is obviously outdoors so I knew I needed something light for the heat. The Ally Fashion sunglasses made another appearance (cheap and cool) plus my staple travel bag and sandals. Ps – another amazing background! Coloured walls make all pictures look good, ha!
DAY 6 – Coffee, Cake & Chill
The last day of our trip saw E and I really relax and take a wander around the area we stayed in, try a few coffee spots I had wishlisted and eat our way through about six meals! It was the perfect way to end the trip! I wore a Princess Highway floral dress (probably to brighten my day as I was sad to be leaving) which conveniently matched the pink alleyway we found on our travels! The market find sunglasses made another appearance, I’m a huge fan of nude frames!
DAY 7 – Travel!
Coffee, breakfast, packing, coffee, train, airport, mad rush, plane, home. When flying I always wear something super comfortable, like these Rockmans Fashion jeggings (more on those here) and a loose fit khaki Target top. I actually wore Kmart flats (not sandals) on our last day as I knew we were coming home to chilly Perth weather, and added some silver jewellery to jazz the outfit up a smidgen. Easy!
What do you feel most comfortable in on holidays?
