Frocktober 2016: The Dress With Pockets {featuring AVA}

Frocktober in the work place? But of course my dear. Frocktober doesn’t stop for anything! I plan on doing my food shopping in a frock, that is how dedicated I am to the cause. If you’re only just tuning in today and have no idea what Frocktober is I’ve explained it all here. But basically it’s a month long fundraiser for Ovarian Cancer Research. Don a frock every day for a month. And I’m blogging all of my frocks for the month so stick around if you’re a frock lover.

Today’s frock is by local designer Petra Vanessie of AVA. She’s one of my favourite WA designers for a few reasons. Firstly, her designs have a beautiful vintage feel which I just adore, secondly she takes a lot of feedback into her creations from her fans and the #avaspotted community over on Facebook and thirdly, most of her creations have pockets. Who doesn’t love pockets! So handy! I have a large collection of AVA frocks in my wardrobe and every season I just have to add a few more.

Thankfully I don’t have a compulsory work uniform (there is a dodgy polo shirt but you wouldn’t catch me wearing it in a million years). As long as I look professional and respectful I’m good to go, so frocks in the workplace are a regular thing for me. This gorgeous frock is just perfect for the office. The length is modest, the sleeves are perfect for Perth’s in between weather and the print is fun and fabulous. The dress originally came with a dark blue belt, but I thought a pink belt would add a bit of a pop and some added personality. Mixing up your accessories is a great way change up an outfit completely.

AVA have just released their latest SS16 collection if you’re looking for a ladylike frock for Spring/Summer. Think bold floral, gorgeous a-line and pleated skirts and pockets! Don’t forget the pockets! Shop it here now

Do you frock up for work? Where do you buy your work dresses?

    LOVE that dress. Love all the AVA dresses you’ve shown off. And, love those shoes.

  2. I often shop at Cue or Myer (Basque) for officewear but I currently work form home so I am normally in jeans and a sweater unless I need to duck in to the office for a meeting 🙂
