Frocktober 2016: The Chambray Dress

Okay, so today’s frock is a little different to the 7532 floral frocks I’ve worn lately. When choosing my daily frocks I’ve had to really think about what I would be up to on that specific day. As I’ve been pre shooting my looks due to time restraints on early mornings, I’ve really had to plan this Frocktober. Like the work days, I’ve had to choose and shoot work appropriate frocks. And the colder days, I’ve had to check the weather days before actually wearing said dress and pray to the high heavens the weather isn’t going to do a 180 on me! So when choosing this frock to pre-shoot for this lovely Wednesday, I remembered I had offered to help some friends move house. Have you ever moved house in a dress? Not my usual choice. Taking that in mind I went with this Chambray Tunic from Kmart, which I’ll be paring with thick leggings for today’s adventures. It’s almost just a denim shirt, so hopefully it’ll do for packing boxes into cars. And moving said boxes into the new house. I’ll let you know how I go! Cross your fingers for me.

So why frock up to help friends move house? Why not be practical and wear pants? All in the name of fundraising for Frocktober of course. Frocktober is a month long fundraiser for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF). Every day this month I’ll be donning a frock, documenting said adventures and raising much needed dollars for Ovarian Cancer Research. This is my third year participating in the Frocktober fundraiser, and my second year as an ambassador and face of the charity.

I love chambray. It’s so casual cool and can be worn with almost anything. I lived in chambray shirts over Winter and can’t wait to pull out the chambray shorts for Summer. Denim is forever trendy, and this lightweight chambray dress has also been on high rotation lately. I normally pair it with stockings, boots and a scarf in the cooler days, but for today’s look I decided to go bare legged (scandal) and create a more edgy look by adding a statement lipstick, statement necklace and heeled boot. Denim doesn’t have to be super casual! If you’re a fan of this dress I’ve found a few similar online. Target has a very similar dress available now, as does The Iconic here (and it’s on special).

And if you’re in Perth I am co-hosting a Fashionable Frocktober High Tea this month at Jonté Design Studio – click here for the details.

Are you a denim fan? Do you do chambray?
