#OOTD | Summer styling with Birdsnest

Life is too short for boring outfits, and I find myself amplified in colour and print come the weekend. Give me vibrant hues and a quirky print over basic black and white any day! Who am I wearing you ask? Local online store Birdsnest is who!

Birdsnest is an Australian online hub for all things fashion and when I was kindly gifted the Gathered Sleeveless Dress ($99.95) from their Handpicked by Birds edit it was pretty much love at first sight. Handpicked by Birds is “a fun collection of great dresses, skirts and tops that are colourful and easy to wear” – which is right up my alley because who doesn’t want to look and feel great when they get dressed in the morning. Here’s what I love about this frock – first up – the tropical floral print. Um, how did Birdsnest know I’m flower obsessed? I can’t say I own anything covered in hibiscus flowers and the print is so pretty and feminine. Secondly, the cut of the dress is super flattering, nipping in at the waist and flaring out in the skirt. This silhouette works well on the hourglass shaped ladies like me who want to show off their smallest body part, the waist! Thirdly the fabric is a gorgeous soft cotton which I found very breathable and didn’t require ironing. And finally I love the colour scheme – it’s almost a darker, deeper version of Pantone’s top colours from last year. Who knew pink and blue worked so well together.

I kept it simple when styling this frock, adding nude Kmart heels, a bright pop of colour on my lips thanks to NYX Cosmetics and simple accessories (and my favourite Big W Boater). The dress speaks for itself and doesn’t really require a lot of styling. Easy!

I know shopping online can be pretty daunting but Birdsnest makes it so much easier with their new Birdsnest Changeroom option (more from Bron at Flat Bum Mum on that here) and option to shop by body shape, occasion, personality and more. The clothing is photographed on multiple different sized women too so you can really imagine how the clothing will look on your bod. The website is very easy to navigate too, making it a simple and fun experience.

Plus it’s not just the Handpicked by Birds edit on the website – you’ll find labels including Espirit, Cooper Street, Emily & Fin, House Of Sky, JAG and more. Be right back, I’m off to look at the sale items for my upcoming holiday – got to get the travel wardrobe sorted (and the packing)!

Do you shop online? Have you tried Birdnest?
