April has got to be one of my favourite months, probably because it’s my birthday month! This past weekend was titled “The Weekend of E” and involved too much cake, lots of fun cocktails and time with my favourite people. I celebrated turning 27 from Friday morning tea time at work all the way through till yesterday evening.
I’m not much of a Taylor Swift fan, but the girl was right when she said you’ve just gotta shake it off! After blogging for over a year now I’ve finally had my first negative comment on one of social media pages. Finally! I’ve been waiting for it, because I know how often it happens, and now I can join the club.
I’ve been feeling so uninspired this past week and a bit. I normally run at a hundred miles an hour but lately my head has been going at a million miles an hour and I’m finding it really hard to focus on the blog, let alone the other bits of my life. And I’ve been procrastinating. A lot.
After a much needed blog hiatus over the Christmas and New Year period, I’m back! And today is the perfect day to get back to the blog world, because today is The Illusive Femme’s first birthday. My little baby blog is one!
Stepping onto the marina I was a little nervous because I was all by myself. My hands were shaking, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was excited because this evening was all about celebration. Where was I and what was I celebrating? Let us back track a little bit…
If you didn’t know I’m off to Melbourne on Friday. I’ll be putting on my big girl pants and heading interstate (all alone) for the Kidspot Voices of 2014 final hurrah and I can’t wait! I’m not much of a traveller (sadly) so I get a little nervous whenever I do travel, but I think it’s because I’m the type of person who is certain she’ll forget something. This is why I’ve already started packing for my mini weekend away.
WHO: Nikki Parkinson | WHAT: Brands, blogging and keeping things real with Styling You course | WHEN: October 28 | WHERE: Floreat | WHY: Because Nikki was in town launching her book – so why not throw in a blogging course too?
If I had any idea how this year would pan out when I started my little spot on the internet I probably would have had a heart attack. Or at least a panic attack. Because the day I decided to really put some time and effort into my blog I didn’t realise that my little place of ranting and reviews would become so much more.
This last fortnight has been good and bad. Telstra Perth Fashion Festival was absolutely fantastic, I spent time with my family for my brother Joel’s university graduation, caught up with old and new friends respectively, discovered a new favourite cafe, met some wonderful new blogger friends and found out E’s sister is having another girl! I’m going to be an aunty again!
If you didn’t know, E and I live in a teeny tiny one bedroom apartment. So small that majority of our furniture lives all over the district, stored with different family members. It’s perfect for us because it is in prime location, we have river views from the driveway and the rent is quite low. Whilst there are so many perks to living “compact” we don’t have a second bedroom to use as an office so ALL of my blogging is completed on the couch, in my bed or wherever I’m sitting when inspiration strikes. But this weekend E and I worked out we had the room in our bedroom for a desk, and you have no idea how ecstatic that made me. I was finally going to have my own blogging corner! I’m pretty easy to please!
