P E R S O N A L : Self Reflections

Whether it be a big thing or little thing, life tends to knock you around a bit every now and then. Shake you up. Make you think about the aspects of your day to day proceedings and puzzle you. Ideas are formed, questions to yourself are raised. The over thinking begins, perhaps a bit of self doubt.

14 + Days | Life Update

Happy New Year! 2016 seems so bright and shiny and new and full of possibilities. This year already feels like it’s going to be a good one and we aren’t even a month in yet! The days are longer, the sun is brighter and there is so much going on right now!

14 + Days | Life Update

Hello Summer! And hello festive season. This has got to be my favourite time of year. Work is slowly winding down for the year, I managed to score some time off over the Christmas and New Year period and everything has been peachy! It’s time to start planning Summer adventures, festive frivolity and some down time back in my sleepy home town with my family for Christmas. It’ll be so great to get out of the city for a bit and recharge. It may be a little slower on the blog post front over Summer because I feel like a little breather, but you will still find me over on Instagram and Snapchat (user name illusivefemmeem). But it’s not break time yet so I need to stay focused for a few more weeks. Since we last updated (more here) everything has been good. Work has been busy, the weekends have been busier and I’ve been out and about and around the block. Here is what I’ve been up to lately! 1. My friend and fellow …

Sisterhood Of The World Blog Awards

How amazing is the title of this post? It reminds me of the Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants which I absolutely loved as a teen. I’m smiling already. Spreading blog love has always been high on my priority list. We’re all in this together, and that is one of the reasons my friend and fellow blogger Demelza Buckley and I created Bloggers Bloom Together, a community for Perth blogger babes to band together, form friendships and take the clique factor out of blogging.

The other side of “Fashion Blogging”

If you’ve been hiding under a rock this week you may have missed the news that one of Australia’s biggest social media stars has quit social media as she felt the entire online world was fake and she was miserable. I never actually followed Essena O’Neill’s Instagram account, as I had no interest in the bikinis and expensive gowns she was promoting, plus those kinds of accounts are way too curated for me, but she is right to say that an Instagram profile is not a 100% real view at someone’s life. I wouldn’t say they’re “fake”, but when you work in social media, Instagram is an online portfolio of your best work. Feeds tend to be matched by colour and picture theme and I guarantee your favourite Instagrammer’s have a folder of pictures on their phones ready to post at the best time for their followers. I’ll admit I do choose my posts depending on the other colours in my feed, and I try not to post too many pictures of myself at once …

14+ Days | Life Update

I’m writing this update from our new home friends. If you read my last life update my E was on the hunt for a new place, and here we are six weeks later in our “forever home”. What a whirlwind that was. More house stuff in a moment, but how have you all been lately? What is new? How beautiful is the sunshine? I’ve been pretty damn happy. A change is as good as a holiday, and being in our own home really is better than a holiday. E’s become an instant DIY queen. I don’t think I could count the amount of times we’ve visited Bunnings in the last couple of weeks. I even went alone to pick up a few things E had forgotten. Can I just say something – I can’t stand anything DIY (unless it’s beauty or jewellery making), building or handy man-ing. I do enjoy interior decorating and shopping for home wares, but that is as far as it goes on my end. E’s a machine though, we’ve only been …

What kind of friend are you?

I’ve been a naughty friend lately. Not in the sense of being mean and nasty to my friends, but in the sense of letting life snatch me up and the roller coster whirl wind of blog life and other things has dragged me away from my normal routine and I miss my friends. Flicking through my phone lately more than one close friend and I have tried to plan a coffee date or a brunch date and it just hasn’t happened. Hey life, slow down. I miss my mates!  This got me thinking about friendship in general. People have people in their lives for different reasons. To inspire them. To better them as a person. To pick them up. To laugh with. If they need an ear. I’ve put together a list of the kinds of friendships you come across in life. From the good to the not so perfect. What kind of friend are you?  1. The BFF Simple really. That one person who you can trust with anything, rely on to be there anytime …

Cleansing and cleaning your headspace, body, living space and social space can be exactly what you need to do to kick those Winter blues. Think of how good you’ll feel when your health, head and home is decluttered!  Detox your body    Raise your hand if you ate your way through Winter? I did! It’s so much easier to comfort eat during the chillier months because it is just so good to snuggle up on the couch with a cuppa and a chocolate biscuit (or five). But now the sun is out and I want to get out and enjoy it! Except I’m feeling sluggish and blah and kick starting your Spring health routine is a great way to get back to feeling like you normally do. I’ve juice cleansed in the past so I though why …
