Although Mary Street Bakery hasn’t been around for as long as some of Mount Lawley’s breakfast spots, it has pretty much become a Beaufort Street landmark in the foodie stakes.
There’s a new kid on the block, and you can call him George. Or if you want a more official name, George Street Cafe and Patisserie will do. Nestled in a quiet street in Kensington the uber cute spot is the perfect location for food and chats in the sunshine, so what did we do? Just that. E and I visited George Street a few weeks back on a rare morning off together and let me tell you, it’s the perfect spot for a brunch date!
A friends birthday is the perfect excuse to gather the troops and discover a new (to us anyway) cafe! Last weekend saw my lovely friend F celebrate another birthday, in style of course, and the first stop on “The Day Of F” was a lovely foodie gathering at Northbridge’s Tarts Cafe. With an extensive menu and reviews to boot it was the perfect spot for celebration.
Stepping into Subiaco’s new breakfast spot The Lion & Jaguar is like stepping into an African safari. The new addition to the suburb is nestled in the arcade near the train station, and even though I don’t visit Subiaco too often I couldn’t miss the fluffy animal print stools spilling onto the street from the small, but festive cafe.
I’ve had the same discussion with a few friends lately about how shattering it is when your favourite local neighbourhood cafe becomes way too busy and popular that you can no longer just pop in on a Sunday morning without having to wait for a table. I’m obviously very happy for the cafe owners who deserve all the recognition and customers they are attracting, but I miss my local. My local is now everyone’s local.
I’ve been dying to visit Grass Espresso for months, but the opportunity has never arisen until now! According to Urbanspoon the cafe doesn’t open on Saturday (?) so we got up early on a Sunday morning and ventured to West Perth to finally it check out. What we discovered was everything we expected and more, and we were so pleased when we arrived at the cute little grass covered haven.
If you’re looking for a simple but tasty meal in a spacious, airy spot then Opal Cafe fits the bill perfectly. The Northbridge eatery is light and bright and the perfect place to meet up with friends.
When my friend L suggested a Sunday catch up at Gusto Food in South Perth I was instantly in. Firstly, it is is a two minute drive from home, and secondly they make a gorgeous breakfast. Located on pretty little Angelo Street, Gusto Food boasts a seasonal menu and friendly staff.
Going to the chapel and we’re gonna eat breakfast. Chapels On Whatley that is.
