Playing by the rules is so boring, especially when it comes to fashion. That is why my girl Jo at iCurvy blog created her “Rule Breakers Club” style challenge a while back, and as soon as I heard it was back this month I had to participate. Advertisements
If you didn’t realise it by now I love a good style challenge. Why? Because they push me to think outside the style box, incorporate fun new twists to my wardrobe and spot the holes on what is missing. Plus it’s a cool way to discover your wardrobe over and over again. I’m currently taking part in at least six style challenges over on Instagram and mixing them together has made for some fun outfits! I wanted to share a few outfits I put together for Kimba Likes and She Writes seasonal style challenge.
“Here we are now, entertain us…”
On Monday I wrote a blog post about the “other side” of social media. But today I want to talk about the colourful, sparkly, lovely side of it all. Do you know Blog Society? It’s a global community and resource for bloggers and creative business owners to connect, collaborate and share. Last week they posted a status on Facebook urging creatives to post about who they’d love to collaborate with in the blog world. Of course I had to say the fabulous Kim-Marie Williams from quirky cute Sydney blog Kimba Likes.
I’ve been “challenging” myself in the fashion stakes this month with the assistance of a good old Instagram style challenge thanks to the gorgeous April Nicoll, Stylist. Week one was filled with shades of lipstick, bright pops of colour and midi skirt Monday (you can see more here), but week two brought even more style with the addition of prompts pattern on pattern, manicures and more.
If you’re ever in need of “style inspiration”, especially when you are sick and tired of your wardrobe and you need to mix it up a little, Instagram is the place to go. There is always some kind of fashion challenge going down, prompting you to get creative and try new things with the items you already own. And for someone like me they are a great push to wear some of the items you have no idea how to style or if you’re guilty of over wearing certain favourite bits and pieces.
If you follow my Instagram you’ll notice I’ve been donning the dresses over the last few days because I’ve decided to play along with Frocktober. Thirty one days, thirty one dresses (and no outfit repeating, I have over seventy frocks)! Rain, hail or shine. All the in the name of promoting awareness and dollars for ovarian cancer research.
