Today is my Saturday. I’m working Sunday evening which means technically I have an almost long weekend with Friday off. It’s one thing I love about shift work. Bonus time for fun things! And hanging out with my Nanna this morning for a coffee and some brunch. And taking time to sit back and take stock, one of my favourite things to do every now and then to just check in with where I’m at and what I’m prioritising at the time.
And like that, it’s already February! I have a feeling this year will speed by like last year did. Insert sad face Emoji. I know time flies when you’re having fun, but man, it’s flying.
Come Friday morning it’ll be 2016. I just can’t believe how fast the year has flown by! It’s been a busy and beautiful one, that is for sure. Of course we have had our ups and downs, but coming into the new year I just want to reflect and appreciate everything I do have in my life. And what a better time than the second last day of the year to share my top blog posts this year.
Kettle Cafe is a hip little eatery in the suburbs that would fit in perfectly in a burb like Vic Park or Mount Lawley. Thankfully it’s not though, and is only a five minute drive from home. Yay. Totally dog friendly (I think we counted six the morning we were there) and with the option to sit in or outside, it’s a super cute spot for a bite to eat. Set across the road from a park, the menu is packed with healthy eats, exotic specials and the usual breakfast fare.
I’m writing this update from our new home friends. If you read my last life update my E was on the hunt for a new place, and here we are six weeks later in our “forever home”. What a whirlwind that was. More house stuff in a moment, but how have you all been lately? What is new? How beautiful is the sunshine? I’ve been pretty damn happy. A change is as good as a holiday, and being in our own home really is better than a holiday. E’s become an instant DIY queen. I don’t think I could count the amount of times we’ve visited Bunnings in the last couple of weeks. I even went alone to pick up a few things E had forgotten. Can I just say something – I can’t stand anything DIY (unless it’s beauty or jewellery making), building or handy man-ing. I do enjoy interior decorating and shopping for home wares, but that is as far as it goes on my end. E’s a machine though, we’ve only been …
Hello! I feel like I haven’t posted a life update in a while! I guess I was too busy out and about doing things so lots to update you on. First things first… Winter is over! Weeeee! This makes me SO excited as I’ve already noticed the days are getting longer, the air is fresher and I’ve definitely had more of a spring in my step (see what I did there, haha). Pretty soon it’ll be time to pack away the jeans and coats, but on the note of packing our entire house will be packed up soon because my E is looking to buy a house! Woop woop. As draining as house hunting has been over the past few months we’ve found a few gems worth considering so guaranteed our lives will be in boxes in the near future. Watch this space! I can’t wait to get into a space where we can put up a picture frame without having to inform a land lord, we can have a puppy and no more rent …
Life has just been so insanely busy lately I haven’t had much of a chance to dine out in true food reviewer form. I know right? Blogger blasphemy! I love a good cafe visit, but every time I have dined out recently it has been an eat and run moment. Or a catch up with friends moment. Or a “I am so hungry I can’t be bothered photographing my food until it’s cold” moment. No staged pictures, no “styling” the table. Just good old fashioned nomming. But I thought I’d share a few spots I’ve recently visited (in non blogger style).
Do you have a weekend ritual? Something you look forward to every week? It might be a trip to the shops or a few hours binge watching a TV series (just did it with season two of Wonderland). Besides those essential things, my ritual involves fresh fruit and vegetables, breakfast in the sunshine and good coffee with E. That’s right, it’s food related (of course).
A very short and sweet post today but it is time for an announcement! I’m so excited to share some exciting news with you all (if you hadn’t seen it on Instagram already). Last week foodie website OZeating launched their very own WA based online food experience. Welcome to the world OZeating WA!
The countdown is on, only a few more weeks until E and I head off on an adventure overseas! I’m not sure whether or not I’ll preschedule blog stuff for while I’m away, but I do know if you follow me on Instagram you’ll be harassed with many a holiday happy snap. Vietnam is up first followed by a trek across the border into Cambodia. So excited!!! Being the disorganised lass I am I’m very lucky to have “E the organised” in full on planning mode. She’s been brilliant with researching and scheduling in everything we need. I’m so lucky. I basically said to her I’d be there at the airport and whatever she wants to do I’m keen. This year has been a bit nutty to be honest. I’m okay, nothing wrong in my camp, but we have had a lot of interesting things happening around us over the last few months, so I just can’t wait to take time out and just breathe. And relax. And explore. And just live a little! Lets …
