Christmas is a month away. I’m in pure shock. If anyone is able to tell me how and why the year has gone so quickly I’ll give you a prize. I’m not prepared at all.
WHO: Perth foodies, bloggers and a few special guests / WHAT: The Flour Factory taster night / WHEN: November 11 / WHERE: The Flour Factory, Queen Street, Perth / WHY: To discuss all things meat, wine and dessert!
Is it just me or is life running so smoothly right now? In fact, I’ve been in the best mood lately and I have no idea why. Even work has been bearable. Sunshine, rainbows and the rest of that clichéd jazz, but life has been really good.
Stepping into Subiaco’s new breakfast spot The Lion & Jaguar is like stepping into an African safari. The new addition to the suburb is nestled in the arcade near the train station, and even though I don’t visit Subiaco too often I couldn’t miss the fluffy animal print stools spilling onto the street from the small, but festive cafe.
I’ve had the same discussion with a few friends lately about how shattering it is when your favourite local neighbourhood cafe becomes way too busy and popular that you can no longer just pop in on a Sunday morning without having to wait for a table. I’m obviously very happy for the cafe owners who deserve all the recognition and customers they are attracting, but I miss my local. My local is now everyone’s local.
WHO: V Burger Bar WHAT: “Blogger Nite” WHEN: October 13 WHERE: V Burger Bar, Floreat WHY: Launch night for the new brioche bun range
Give me sunshine and a good coffee and I’m one happy girl. This particular morning saw V, Lu and I gather in North Perth for a gossip session and a tasty breakfast. I’d been itching to visit the cafe, assuming a coffee shop with the name Cuppa Joe would serve a good cuppa joe. And I was right. Although I hadn’t heard too much about the cafe we were keen to give it a shot, and Urbanspoon’s rating sealed the deal. The bright, stylish eatery is located just off Scarborough Beach Road and although it was a little bit hard to find (thanks GPS), it was well worth the semi-confusing city drive.
I’ve been dying to visit Grass Espresso for months, but the opportunity has never arisen until now! According to Urbanspoon the cafe doesn’t open on Saturday (?) so we got up early on a Sunday morning and ventured to West Perth to finally it check out. What we discovered was everything we expected and more, and we were so pleased when we arrived at the cute little grass covered haven.
Back in the day before I started blogging myself, I had a lot of spare time to read a hundred and one food, fashion and lifestyle blogs. You know you’ve found a good food blog when you feel hungry when reading the posts, and if I ever needed foodie advice I’d be straight onto dinewhitme.com. I’ve known epic food blogger and photographer Whit for a while now, and she’s pretty much a cool girl with an eye for good food. Her blog is filled with insanely gorgeous food snaps and hot tips on all the best places in town with a personal twist.
I can’t tell you how long it’s been since I dolled up on a Sunday evening and headed out for a Sunday session.
