Happy New Year! 2016 seems so bright and shiny and new and full of possibilities. This year already feels like it’s going to be a good one and we aren’t even a month in yet! The days are longer, the sun is brighter and there is so much going on right now!
I’m writing this update from our new home friends. If you read my last life update my E was on the hunt for a new place, and here we are six weeks later in our “forever home”. What a whirlwind that was. More house stuff in a moment, but how have you all been lately? What is new? How beautiful is the sunshine? I’ve been pretty damn happy. A change is as good as a holiday, and being in our own home really is better than a holiday. E’s become an instant DIY queen. I don’t think I could count the amount of times we’ve visited Bunnings in the last couple of weeks. I even went alone to pick up a few things E had forgotten. Can I just say something – I can’t stand anything DIY (unless it’s beauty or jewellery making), building or handy man-ing. I do enjoy interior decorating and shopping for home wares, but that is as far as it goes on my end. E’s a machine though, we’ve only been …
I’ve been a naughty friend lately. Not in the sense of being mean and nasty to my friends, but in the sense of letting life snatch me up and the roller coster whirl wind of blog life and other things has dragged me away from my normal routine and I miss my friends. Flicking through my phone lately more than one close friend and I have tried to plan a coffee date or a brunch date and it just hasn’t happened. Hey life, slow down. I miss my mates! This got me thinking about friendship in general. People have people in their lives for different reasons. To inspire them. To better them as a person. To pick them up. To laugh with. If they need an ear. I’ve put together a list of the kinds of friendships you come across in life. From the good to the not so perfect. What kind of friend are you? 1. The BFF Simple really. That one person who you can trust with anything, rely on to be there anytime …
A friends birthday is the perfect excuse to gather the troops and discover a new (to us anyway) cafe! Last weekend saw my lovely friend F celebrate another birthday, in style of course, and the first stop on “The Day Of F” was a lovely foodie gathering at Northbridge’s Tarts Cafe. With an extensive menu and reviews to boot it was the perfect spot for celebration.
I love those weekends where you feel like you’ve accomplished something, aka the productive ones. But what I love more are those weekends spent celebrating life with your friends and lovers. The ones where you do exactly what you feel like doing, whether it’s going out and enjoying the good weather, or just lying on the couch catching up on a TV series you’ve been neglecting. I did all of the above this weekend.
Hi March. I’m not sure if I’m happy or sad to see you. Mixed emotions really. It’s nice to be getting into Autumn (even though we’re still enjoying the Summer sunshine), and March is technically closer to my birthday (April baby right here), but I don’t know where last month went! What a blur! I’m hoping the rest of the year will slow right down… Fingers crossed.
I’ve been very MIA from my blog for the past few weeks because it really is that time of the year to get out and celebrate. It’s family time, it’s party time, it’s dancing in the sunshine time. And I’ve done all of those things and more as of late.
