Is shape wear really that much of a drama… and other fashion news.

here’s what I recommend to read this week To suck it in or to not suck it in – that is the question? xojane blogger Lesley Kinzel just doesn’t like shape-wear (aka spanks, granny undies, or my favourite and what we like to call them “sucking in undies”) – in her words shapewear means we’re erasing a lot of our awesome physical diversity – a passionate take on the little (or big!!) pants in out underwear drawer. Alexa Chung up’s the fashion anti @ The Brit Awards If anyone is new breed fashion royalty Alexa Chung is. It’s not the first time Ms Chung was voted best dressed Brit, and thevine suggest perhaps they should rename the award. How to dress like a fashion blogger – isn’t that an oxymoron? Personally I thought fashion blogging was about personal style but this week Vogue is assisting the masses with top tips to dress like you know how to type. xx e

Counting calories.

The weather is freaking me out. It’s November and this is one of the creepiest, windiest nights we’ve had all year – the apocalypse is coming! Nothing much to report. E & I are chomping through Michelle Bridges’ 12 week weight loss challenge. Loving the food but can’t quite motivate myself to exercise! 😦 Bought the most pretty shirt from Target of all places on the weekend just gone. It’s my size but the sizing seems so off and it really doesn’t fit nicely 😦 Hopefully all this dieting will help my arms shrink so I can wear it! Saw Breaking Dawn pt 2 Sunday – really wasn’t that fab. Never read the books so I had no idea what to expect but really wasn’t that good! Also saw Perks Of Being A Wallflower and Bachelorette last week – both so good! We’ve been lazy haha. Till next time, E xx Ps – pictures explained … 1.Me off to our friends engagement party Saturday in ASOS goodness, 2. my little sweet kitten snuggling her fave …

My “fail safe” go-to outfit

Reading the Style Hunter blog and came across this post by Maree Stoubos filling in the style hunters on her go-to item of clothing in times of need. I have a few go-to’s in my wardrobe, depending on the occasion. When it comes to work, my go to is my black pinstripe high waisted skirt. As I’ve mentioned in this blog before I can wear basically whatever to work within reason, and I have lots of little work dresses and blouses and cardigans and blah – but my go-to skirt is a regular repeat offender in my work life. And having so many different blouses and shirts changes it up so I don’t look the same every day. For casual times my go-to is a floral print skater style dress with a crocheted lace collar. It’s practical enough for all occasions (not too dressy, or too plain) and I’ve lived in it over the last year and half or so. It’s only a Jay Jay’s cheapie (and I actually don’t really like their stuff) but …

In My Mind, In My Head

TGIF!!!! Technically I have half an hour till midnight but TGIF. Work wise this week has been hellish. My lovely boss gave me the task of training a new member of staff with our computer systems in the hospital and it has been the slowest two days of my life. She’s nice, but ugh. Thank god training is over!!!!! To top it all off I was so hungover this morning after copious amounts of wine Weds night for my girls birthday. Note to self – I am too old (mentally) to drink on a school night. 🙂 this week I am… obsessing over foxtel (had it installed this week!) online shopping with no money to spend cuddling my kitties and lover rocking a centre part downloading Tracks from Bloc Party’s new EP Four (we are not good people, octopus, so he begins to lie) Chained by The XX Birdy’s cover of 1901 by Phoenix San Cisco’s latest single Wild Things Cast Away, Strange Talks latest eating Vegetarian Indian Curry Seafood Platters Tim Tams listening to …

ASOS for the Aussies.

I like the idea ASOS now has its own Australian line type thingy aimed at Australian buyers- but scouting the pages, some of the fashion aimed at us was kinda hippyish… And very different – and not good ‘I’m not gonna look like anyone I’m individual indie hipster’ but like, double denim style different. Ouch. I’ll be sticking to the regular ASOS pages thank you very much – this girl would look very odd in double denim. xxx E Ps- placed an order for two dresses from ASOS today and one from BANK UK – they’re flying towards me as I write this ! Squee.

Blue Jean Baby

I am so paranoid about my legs in skinny jeans. Yes, even black skinnies. I’m worried my cellulite will god forbid be visible through them or something ridiculous, so yeah I only wear black ones. But recently I noticed one of my friends posted an indie Instagram snap of her brand new bright blue jeans. I love the idea of colourful, bright jeans. This seasons bold thing is much my thing. After much encouragement from my girlfriend I tried on and purchased a pair of cobalt blue jeans… And do I love them. Yes, I still had to ask 100 times if my chunky thighs were visible in them (I think she’s sick of me talking bout them today) but I wore them this eve for drinks with friends and felt fab. And better yet, they were $15 from Kmarts new bold range. Think I’ll have to get a burgundy pair next! xx E

Style Icons III

Part III of my style icons series. I’ll admit if I’m not inspired with my outfit for an event or day I’ll jump online and have a look at what the stars are wearing and mimic their looks. Carey Mulligan For me she’s the modern day Twiggy… Classic, vintage inspired and a little bit quirky, Carey always looks so polished and lovely. And like I mentioned in my previous Style Icons post, anyone who can pull of a pixie cut and make it work gets a tick in my book. Lily Allen I can’t count how many times I’ve gone to get a haircut and brought a picture of Lily’s hair in with me. Also love her kooky dresses and mismatched boots and shoes. Daisy Lowe That fringe. And body. Yes, I’ll admit I have a mass crush on Rob Lowe’s daughter, but I love Daisy’s sexy, grungy style. Reow.

Style Icons I

I thought I’d start a series of posts over the next few days featuring my style icons. I take fashion inspiration from everywhere – online, on the tv, people walking past me in the street, fashion blogs… But here are the celebs I follow, observe and take style tips from. Zooey Deschanel I’m a sucker for blue eyes so perhaps that is why I adore Zooey and her look so much. A little bit kooky, a lot adorable with a hint of vintage vibe every now and then, hers is one wardrobe I’d pay to paw through (if by chance I was ever as tiny as she was!) Kat Dennings Girls got curves! Reow. Both me and my girlfriend have a thing for Kat big time (check out 2 Broke Girls if you need a good laugh) but besides wanting to jump her, I love her look. Dark lipstick with such pale skin is a classic combo. Jealous. And she dresses perfectly for her shape – if you’ve got it flaunt it. Peaches Geldof Vintage …
