My Top 20 Blog Posts of 2015

Come Friday morning it’ll be 2016. I just can’t believe how fast the year has flown by! It’s been a busy and beautiful one, that is for sure. Of course we have had our ups and downs, but coming into the new year I just want to reflect and appreciate everything I do have in my life. And what a better time than the second last day of the year to share my top blog posts this year. Advertisements

14 + Days | Life Update

Hello Summer! And hello festive season. This has got to be my favourite time of year. Work is slowly winding down for the year, I managed to score some time off over the Christmas and New Year period and everything has been peachy! It’s time to start planning Summer adventures, festive frivolity and some down time back in my sleepy home town with my family for Christmas. It’ll be so great to get out of the city for a bit and recharge. It may be a little slower on the blog post front over Summer because I feel like a little breather, but you will still find me over on Instagram and Snapchat (user name illusivefemmeem). But it’s not break time yet so I need to stay focused for a few more weeks. Since we last updated (more here) everything has been good. Work has been busy, the weekends have been busier and I’ve been out and about and around the block. Here is what I’ve been up to lately! 1. My friend and fellow …

Welcome Back Milk! | Lacto-Free Review

I thought I’d start this post with a warning. It may contain content you might not be too keen on, especially since you might be reading this first thing with a cup of coffee. Let’s talk about lactose intolerance.  I can’t even remember when my body stopped “liking” milk products. It’s been that long. First it was regular milk, then came yoghurt and ice-cream and don’t even ask me about excessive amounts of cheese. My Mum always drank soy milk in her coffee back in the day, but as a child I hated soy. I didn’t want to find an alternative so I rebelled for a while. I kept drinking milk, I gorged on ice-cream and ate cheese by the chunk (don’t you do that?). My body hated me. I was constantly bloated and nauseated, I was back and forth to the loo post binge and I was irritable and generally unwell. So I had to move away from milk which really pissed me off, because I loved dairy products!  Besides the obvious of not …

14+ DAYS | Life Update

Hello! I feel like I haven’t posted a life update in a while! I guess I was too busy out and about doing things so lots to update you on. First things first… Winter is over! Weeeee! This makes me SO excited as I’ve already noticed the days are getting longer, the air is fresher and I’ve definitely had more of a spring in my step (see what I did there, haha). Pretty soon it’ll be time to pack away the jeans and coats, but on the note of packing our entire house will be packed up soon because my E is looking to buy a house! Woop woop. As draining as house hunting has been over the past few months we’ve found a few gems worth considering so guaranteed our lives will be in boxes in the near future. Watch this space! I can’t wait to get into a space where we can put up a picture frame without having to inform a land lord, we can have a puppy and no more rent …

A{nother} Letter To My Body

Dear Body, I wrote to you about a year back now. At that time I was finally starting to feel comfortable in my skin, and now twelve months on I thought it was a good time to rewrite you. A year back I’d finally come to terms with the fact you were the body I was given, and I had to embrace it. And these days I am really loving the skin I’m in. As a woman it is common to struggle with body image issues from day dot. Back in high school I really didn’t like you too much Body. I was the first to grow boobs (thanks family genes), my skin wasn’t the best and I didn’t participate in sport because I was too embarrassed to run in front of people. But I just wanted to tell you, I voluntarily took part in a boxing class recently. It was part of a blogger collaboration with four other bloggers, a MMA fight coach, a brilliant photographer and a fashion designer specialising in sports luxe. …

Taking Stock: The Winter Edition

Let the rain fall down! As you may have heard me mention in the past I’m not a huge fan of Winter. Especially when we’ve only recently returned from a tropical vacation overseas in Vietnam and Cambodia where the weather was epic. It was so great to escape the initial few throws of Winter, but were hit full force when we returned. So much so I had to get straight to the shops on my return to pick up some more warm clothes. Any excuse to go shopping.

14 DAYS

The countdown is on, only a few more weeks until E and I head off on an adventure overseas! I’m not sure whether or not I’ll preschedule blog stuff for while I’m away, but I do know if you follow me on Instagram you’ll be harassed with many a holiday happy snap. Vietnam is up first followed by a trek across the border into Cambodia. So excited!!! Being the disorganised lass I am I’m very lucky to have “E the organised” in full on planning mode. She’s been brilliant with researching and scheduling in everything we need. I’m so lucky. I basically said to her I’d be there at the airport and whatever she wants to do I’m keen. This year has been a bit nutty to be honest. I’m okay, nothing wrong in my camp, but we have had a lot of interesting things happening around us over the last few months, so I just can’t wait to take time out and just breathe. And relax. And explore. And just live a little! Lets …

Taking Stock: The Autumn Edition

April has got to be one of my favourite months, probably because it’s my birthday month! This past weekend was titled “The Weekend of E” and involved too much cake, lots of fun cocktails and time with my favourite people. I celebrated turning 27 from Friday morning tea time at work all the way through till yesterday evening.

14 DAYS

I love those weekends where you feel like you’ve accomplished something, aka the productive ones. But what I love more are those weekends spent celebrating life with your friends and lovers. The ones where you do exactly what you feel like doing, whether it’s going out and enjoying the good weather, or just lying on the couch catching up on a TV series you’ve been neglecting. I did all of the above this weekend.
