Taking a seven hour bus trip by choice probably isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but for E and I it was the perfect downtime after experiencing the hustle and bustle of HCMC. If you’ve never been on a sleeper bus you’re missing out. The double decker seat situation was so different to your usual bus, and I had to climb up into my “bed” without a ladder. Yeah, that was fun. Don’t even try and imagine it, it wasn’t pretty.
From the minute we touched down in Ho Chi Minh I knew we weren’t in Kansas anymore. The air is thick, the roads are insanely busy and the sun beats down. It’s a fast paced, forever moving city, and definitely a culture shock for this lazy day woman. Perth is nothing compared to the insanity of Ho Chi Minh, in fact I couldn’t even compare Sydney or Melbourne to this cray! Don’t get me wrong, Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) is full of culture and colour and noise, but this small town girl probably couldn’t handle the 24/7 noise and beep beep-ing for an extended period! But it was an amazing start to our Vietnam adventure.
The countdown is on, only a few more weeks until E and I head off on an adventure overseas! I’m not sure whether or not I’ll preschedule blog stuff for while I’m away, but I do know if you follow me on Instagram you’ll be harassed with many a holiday happy snap. Vietnam is up first followed by a trek across the border into Cambodia. So excited!!! Being the disorganised lass I am I’m very lucky to have “E the organised” in full on planning mode. She’s been brilliant with researching and scheduling in everything we need. I’m so lucky. I basically said to her I’d be there at the airport and whatever she wants to do I’m keen. This year has been a bit nutty to be honest. I’m okay, nothing wrong in my camp, but we have had a lot of interesting things happening around us over the last few months, so I just can’t wait to take time out and just breathe. And relax. And explore. And just live a little! Lets …
If you didn’t know I’m off to Melbourne on Friday. I’ll be putting on my big girl pants and heading interstate (all alone) for the Kidspot Voices of 2014 final hurrah and I can’t wait! I’m not much of a traveller (sadly) so I get a little nervous whenever I do travel, but I think it’s because I’m the type of person who is certain she’ll forget something. This is why I’ve already started packing for my mini weekend away.
